John’s Roast Pork

Instagram will load in the frontend.

It’s hard to take a lunch place in a shopping plaza seriously, but John’s Roast Pork is now cited in the city’s top ranks for cheesesteak.   The secret weapon is it’s crusty seeded roll from Carangi’s Bakery.   Long a favorite of South Philly dock workers and contractors, John’s opened in 1930 but in recent years has gained mainstream recognition including a James Beard Foundation award for culinary excellence.

Take along a friend and also purchase it’s namesake the roast pork sandwich.   You’ll not be disappointed!
