Five Cheesesteaks In A Week – One Man’s Opinion

Dom Cook – report from Cheesesteak Gurus FB group

I had the opportunity to sample 5 cheesesteaks in a week and here’s what I thought.

Dalessandros Steaks – I’ll start here because everyone’s had it. I’ve honestly never liked their steaks. I live in Roxborough and this is only the 3rd one I’ve had. Thought I’d give it another try to prove to myself that I’m not crazy. Got all the confirmation I needed.

Meat was dry cheese was lacking onions were goofy. I don’t get it people. I don’t get it.

Rating: I don’t know, somewhere above 7/11 and below Wawa
Dalessandros
Datillos

Datillos– Just being inside this place had me yelling about gabagool for the next few days. It’s so Philly Italian in the best way. And the steak is great tender flavorful meat and CS cheese 🤌🏼 roll was meh.

I like a sesame seed but this didn’t stand out to me. All in all though it’s probably the best you will find in Northeast.

Trevs- I was excited to try this because I’m in the area a lot and wit or witout was….. anyway everything about this place is still the same except the steaks are totally different. I really liked the thicker chunks of meat.

It was cooked perfect but I’d like a little more flavor in the beef. Some extra seasoning could bump this one up a bunch.

Granny's
Granny’s🥇 This place is all the way out in cream ridge nj. Took a super long lunch break to go out there. Extremely worth it. Meat and cheese were great and the onions were super flavorful.

Bread was good but took a back seat and let the other ingredients shine. This place actually cracks my top 5

Cosmi’s– seems a little anti climatic after that last one but this one was just meh to me. I was in the area because my wife was getting tattooed so I just walked around for a while. Of course I’m gonna stop in a cheesesteak spot I haven’t been to before if I stumble upon one idc if I’m not even hungry.

This one was just average across the board though. Nothing stood out. Cool spot. Nice people. But nothing at all stood out about the steak.
